YEREVAN (Yerkir)—A large number of police raided a peaceful protest organized by environmentalists at the city’s Mashdots Park on Wednesday night and forcibly dispersed the protesters, witnesses at the scene reported.
Police, which according to eyewitness accounts numbered in the hundreds, ran into the park where the protesters gathered around a tent and raided the tent, pushing and shoving through the crowd.
“They pulled one of the protesters from the tent and dragged him out. His eyeglasses fell and he could not see anything in the dark,” said one eyewitness.
When the police burst on the scene, those gathered at the park to protest environmental policies and abuses by the government, were talking among themselves and drinking hot tea.
At one point, the number of police outnumbered the protesters.

This again shows how much corrupt Armenia has become. Those policemans are disgraceful.

Why are you blaming the cops? They have to obey to their chief and the orders of the government. Don’t you remember what they did three years ago? They are capable to do that again and again.When the order comes from the president or any high level government official, there is no other choice. Since no one is going to punish them and, none of the official will be punish. This is the anarchic way of ruling our country. I hope our new generation will be able to fight against them. This not a government, this is a “thieves clan” fleecing our poor country.
They are destroying our naturalland for hard money, I don’t need any report to verify that and I could see that with my own eyes while travelling on Armenian roads and wildlife during last twenty years, it must be combination of poverty and desparation from lower incomed villagers and bad management by government, the cops are just following orders, no shame on them, but shame on oligarkhs and newcomer moneyhungry and show offs who are seemengly from Armenian stock and creeding , ones who got their hands by chance on this little jewel piece of earth and think they can do anything with it if they wanted to!
