VENICE, Calif.—The Los Angeles Affiliate of AIWA’s Board of directors attended a luncheon at Tripod Gallery on May 1 to view the photography exhibit, “Armenia Observed.”
The exhibit features the work of Peter Carapetian, an internationally acclaimed, award winning photographer, who was born to Armenian parents in Teheran and raised in London.
Joan Agajanian Quinn did an extraordinary job not only, scheduling the event, but also conducting an interview with the artist. Peter’s background in worldwide publications and what he tries to capture through his images was explained during the presentation. He told many fascinating anecdotes about the people he met in Armenia, spoke about individual pictures and fielded questions from the audience. Sue and Steve Demer, principals in the Tripod Gallery, hosted the lunch which was catered by the Rose Cafe. The Demers gave a preview of the upcoming Carapetian exhibit, which deals with Venice Italy as the subject. AIWA members and friends have been invited back to participate in the upcoming exhibition, which opens May 12.
Lily Balian announced the AIWA symposium 2012, which be held at the Anthenaeum Club in Pasadena on May 19th beginning at 9:30 a.m. An array of high profile journalists, Eliz Gazarian-Semerjian, Lianna Zakharian and Maria Armoudian will sit on a panel titled The Evolving Media moderated by Keri Tombazian. The luncheon speaker will be Silva Sevlian.
“We welcome your attendance” stated newly elected AIWA president Silva Katchiguian, “it will be an afternoon to remember.”
