July 16 Universal Hilton Kick-off Luncheon to Set Stage for Chris Bohjalian’s National Book Tour
GLENDALE—Excitement is mounting as the Southern California Armenian community joins with the ANC Grassroots Film and Arts Committee and the Genocide Education Project (GenEd) for New York Times Best Selling author Chris Bohjalian’s July 16 international kickoff of “The Sandcastle Girls,” his tour de force novel on the Armenian Genocide.
“We have been getting a fantastic response from our community across the Southland, all wanting to be a part of the launch of this epic novel on the Armenian Genocide and the Armenian experience,” said Film and Arts Committee Chairwoman Nora Yacoubian. “With praise coming from all corners of the literary and arts circles, ‘The Sandcastle Girls’ is sure to educate a whole new generation of readers about the horrors of genocide and the trans-generational consequences of its denial.”
Bohjalian and ‘The Sandcastle Girls’ will take center stage beginning with a special Southern California debut luncheon on July 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the Universal Sheraton Hotel followed by an evening presentation held at Woodbury University Fletcher Jones Auditorium. Tickets for the luncheon are available through the ANCA Western Region office at (818) 500-1918 or online now.
Bohjalian will then be traveling to events in San Francisco, Watertown, Mass.; Warwick, RI; New Milford, NJ and Washington, where his Capitol Hill debut is co-hosted by Congressional Armenian Genocide Resolution lead sponsors, Representatives Robert Dold (R-IL) and Adam Schiff (D-CA). Bohjalian will be meeting with Congressional members throughout the day on August 1 and then offering remarks and signing books beginning at 6 p.m. at the Rayburn House Office Building, Room B-369.
