GLENDALE—A capacity crowd at the Glendale High School Auditorium celebrated the 122nd anniversary of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation on Sunday.
The event, which has become a traditional gathering for the party to present an accounting of its activities to the community, brought the community together under the banner of “One Nation. One Homeland. One Future.”
The keynote speaker at the event was former Armenian Parliament member and ARF Activist Lilit Galstian, who presented an overview of the ARF’s activities in Armenia, but strongly criticized the ruling authorities for undermining rule of law and democratic values in Armenia.
ARF Western US Central Committee member Dr. Viken Yacoubian presented remarks on behalf of the body, focusing on the imperative to modernize the party’s efforts and the important role the youth play in the nation’s future.
Speaking on behalf of the Armenian Youth Federation, Rafi Orphali, vowed the youth’s and the AYF’s resolve to fight for justice and prevail with the eventual creation of a Free, United and Independent Armenia.
Cultural performances and recitations highlighted the program, which also featured video presentations chronicling the aspects of the ARF’s history and activities. At the entrance of the auditorium photographs and other visual materials were displayed featuring the activities of the various Western US chapters, as well as key events in ARF history.
Asbarez will provide complete coverage of the event in upcoming days.
