GLENDALE—The Armenian National Committee of America – Glendale in partnership with the City of Glendale’s Week of Remembrance Committee, the American Red Cross, the Armenian Youth Federation – Roupen, and the Homenetmen – Ararat will organize the 8th annual blood drive in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.
The event will take place on Sunday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.at St. Mary’s Armenian Church Hall (500 S. Central Ave., Glendale, CA 91204).
“This annual blood drive honors those who perished during the Armenian Genocide of 1915 while assisting our local hospitals,” stated ANCA-Glendale Chairman, Berdj Karapetian.
According to the American Red Cross, less than 2 to 3% of the eligible donors in Southern California donate blood. One pint of blood can save up to 3 lives and about every 2 seconds someone needs a blood transfusion. The April 21st blood drive will benefit patients treated at 150 Southern California hospitals. Appointments are encouraged, walk-ins are welcome. To be eligible to donate blood you must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent) and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds; valid identification is required.
