YEREVAN—The newly appointed US Co-Chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group, James Warlick, after his Thursday meeting with Nagorno-Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan, said that he had come to listen to and learn about the approaches of all parties involved in the Karabakh conflict.
The American Co-Chair said he is seeking realistic ways for establishing peace and stability.
James Warlick spoke about a “second way” of settlement the issue. The first way, Warlick said, aims to reach a solution through negotiations; and the OSCE is working in that direction. The second way, he said, calls for the implementation of confidence-building measures and the development of contact between peoples. This approach, according to Warlick, should be implemented parallel to the first.
On September 13, in accordance with the agreement reached with the authorities of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, the OSCE Mission conducted a planned monitoring of the line of contact between the armed forces of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan in the Askeran region.
From the Karabakh side, the monitoring was conducted by Field Assistant of the Personal Representative օf the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Jiri Aberle (Czech Republic).
From the opposite side, the monitoring was conducted by Field Assistant of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Christo Christov (Bulgaria) and staff member of the office Peter Svedberg.
US Co-Chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick participated in the monitoring from the Karabakh side.
The monitoring took place in accordance to the agreed schedule. No violation of the cease-fire was registered.
From the Karabakh side, the monitoring mission was accompanied by representatives of the Nagorno-Karabakh Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense.

just remember fellow Armenians, this was an imposed war by Azerbaijan and we were fighting to prevent another genocide after the massacres of Armenians in baku, sumgait and Kirovabad, as well as other towns like maraga. and if they get a chance again they will remove all the Armenians from their native lands.
this is NOT a two sided case where both sides have to concede etc.. the Armenian leadership caused this confusion because they lack the skills for PR and promoting our freedom, which is very similar to American history (thank ARF and ANCA for all the progress weve made because theyre the only ones who work for Armenian causes)..
we should not make any concessions EVER, including the buffer zones. only a FOOL would gove away those territories surrounding artsakh to a hateful, war mongering enemy, which would then be encircling artsakh and threating it all.
no concessions. get Azerbaijan used to the fact that this is our land and we paid a heavy price for our freedom. we will never give it up. any Armenian who concedes territory threatens Armenian lives and is therefor an enemy of our people.

This is strange – usually during such visits US trained and armed Azeri snipers try to kill a few Artsakh soldiers to build more confidence in BP pipeline safety.
Isn’t “implementation of confidence building measures and the development of contact between the peoples” what they have been trying to accomplish all along? Mr. Warlick either missed his briefing or he was not paying attention.

There is one and only one way for Artsakh, mr Warlick should have this message drilled into his policies. Armenia-Artsakh are one people, one nation, one land and country.
