The study results point to quite limited effects of the financial and economic crisis on telecommunications in Armenia.
In particular, in 2013 revenues in the field exceeded the 2008 levels by 7% (in current prices). Mobile telephony accounted for 64% of the earnings, the Internet for 17% and wire telephony for 13% in 2013.
The study results show cable television services are one of the most rapidly developing markets in telecommunication field: its earnings increased by more than fourfold in 2008-2013.
The study also says wire telephony is still demanded in Yerevan – 68.7% of the population in the age group of 15-69 uses these lines every day, although 98.4% of the population also takes advantage of mobile telephony.
The experts found that about 55% of households have only one computer in Yerevan and only 8.5% have a computer, a laptop and a tablet at the same time.
The study results show cable television and Internet access are the markets with highest potential for development.
Specialists expect traditional telecommunication services (wire and mobile telephony) will somehow give way to Internet services in the coming years.
