PASADENA, Calif.—On Thursday, March 5, L. & H. Tavlian Preschool and K.G. in Pasadena celebrated its 18th Annual Tea Party. This year, it was different from all other years. Helen Manoucherians, the director, the staff, the PTSC and the School Board members pulled off yet another fantastic community event, honoring the donors of the “Legacy Map” of Armenia and unveiling the name plaques. Over 120 attendees enjoyed a cozy, casual and friendly environment at their community preschool. What made the event even more pleasant was the fact that the administration and staff worked together for days to decorate and to make the school look like an enchanted place for our guests.
The school greatly appreciates Dzaghik Ketsoyan for donating flowers , Fresco Restaurant for the delicious finger food , Sarkis Pastry for the beautiful cake with the Legacy Map picture on it , Kegham Berajekalian for the video recording , Touch Of Art Photo for the memorable pictures , Jacques Khachadourian for the lights . As they say in Middle East: “May you all stay in lights!”
Tavlian preschool’s dedicated teachers and staff, as always, spent days to prepare and manage the event. They deserve many thanks by accommodating such a large turnout out of nothing.
The Legacy Map , a master piece, color-relief map of modern Armenia, designed , created and made by a well-known talented artist, Armen Gharabegian , representing regions and monument-icons, is installed on the school’s outside wall in front of the main gate. It is a beautiful fundraising tool to collect donations for the property loan buyback. For every donation, ($3,000 for each region, $1,000 for each icon) a plaque is dedicated to each donor. The plaques are located under the map, at the full view of anyone who enters the school.
Before unveiling the wall of plaques, Father Boghos Baltagian praised the selfless efforts of the dedicated crew involved in the success of the school in the past years. He recited a prayer, blessing the school, its director and staff, the PTSC, the school and church board members and also members of sister organizations, parents and other friends attending the event . Then, he proceeded to present each donor with a certificate of appreciation printed in the cultural esthetics of our beautiful Armenian lettering.
The event came to an end after a scrumptious cake decorated with the picture of the map, (donated by Sarkis Pastry) was enjoyed by attendees.
