YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"The internal political situation in Armenia is aggravating. It is quite apparent that we are approaching a very important crossroads. However–it is still unclear what will follow these events. I would like the final outcome to depend on the people," National Democratic Union representative to the Parliament David Vartanian said.
Not denying the fact that the latest events might be triggered by the heated debates over the Karabakh conflict–he opined that they could have also been caused by the struggle between different classes.
According to Vartanian–these terrorist acts are triggered by the ruling elite for the purpose of introducing emergency rule in the country and establishing a dictatorship. Vartanian says that it is rather surprising that all the victims either escaped unscathed or suffered light wounds.
He also stressed that the National Democratic Union tends to view the main reason of the current political crisis the usurpation of power by Levon Ter-Petrosyan in September 1996.
