YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–In an interview with Azg daily Jan.3–Harutiun Karapetian–chief of the Republican Board of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Armenia–commented on his party’s position in connection with recent acts of terrorism–and political processes in Armenia.
"The Republican Board is considering the current situation in Armenia as well as ways of its possible development," Karapetian said.
"It’s rather alarming that social stability established in previous years is in great danger now–for in the given case words and actions–no matter who they’re coming from–undermine our country’s security and–therefore–Armenia’s stance in the negotiating process.
"Divergent viewpoints and attitudes towards the national problem should never result in confrontation that would divide the nation into two camps opposing each other. Under the current situation–this may become crucial for our state.
However–it is quite obvious that the heavy burden of possible losses is going to be shifted onto the shoulders of people in Armenia–Artsakh and Diaspora.
"Today all of us–whether authorities–political forces–mass media or ordinary citizens–have to show ultimate restraint and responsibility. The Ramkavar Azatakan Party is being guided by this very principle in carrying out its activities."
