YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"Today many of Armenia’s media outlets are used as instrumen’s to settle political conflicts within the country," Chief of the Department of Press and Information of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Zhanna Krikorova told journalists on Thursday.
According to her–it is necessary to put aside political affiliations and conduct their work in an unbiased manner.
Krikorova said that information links between Karabakh and world’s leading media outlets are limited and therefore connections through Armenia are significant.
Even though Armenia’serves as a necessary connecting point between Karabakh and international media–Krikorova alleged that Armenian mass media often produced Karabakh news pieces biased in favor of Armenia.
She brought as an example the biased coverage of "The Fourth Estate" (Chorrort Ishkhanutiun) newspaper which uses the Karabakh problem to create division among the Armenian people.
Krikorova also reported that the Karabakh government is proceeding with preparations for the 10th anniversary of the Karabakh liberation struggle.
She found it difficult to answer the question whether Levon Ter-Petrosyan would be invited to attend these arrangemen’s.
In a statement last week–Krikorova stated that Karabakh had every right to comment on Armenia’s internal situation as it related to the Karabakh conflict.
