In November of 1997–the government of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic initiated an all-Armenian lottery–the proceeds of which would be utilized to strengthen and stabilize Karabakh. Winning lottery numbers are scheduled to be announced on May 9–1998–marking the anniversary of the formation of the Karabakh army and the liberation of Shoushi. 500,000 lottery tickets are being distributed throughout Karabakh–Armenia and the Diaspora. Taking into consideration that disbursement of tickets in the Diaspora posed certain difficulties–the government of Karabakh welcomed the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s proposal to accept responsibility for Diasporan ticket distribution.
Today–we are pleased to announce that the disbursement of lottery tickets in the Diaspora is proceeding smoothly and in an organized manner. Taking into account that the success of this project holds significance not only in economic–political and cultural realms–but also in demonstrating the Armenian nation’s dedication to the rebirth of Karabakh–the government of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic calls on Diasporan Armenia’s–with all their organizations and bodies–to contribute to the distribution and success of the All-Armenian Artsakh Lottery.
