STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–Karabakh National Assembly Speaker Oleg Yesayan held a press conference on Thursday–to mark his 100th day in office.
According to Yesayan–the parliament’s goal is to decrease the authority and role of the parliament–which–according to him–is possible provided the work of the legislative body is well organized and efficient.
Yesayan noted that in the near future it is necessary to solve about 15 problems particularly concerning organizational issues within the parliament.
The Speaker reported that social-economic and technical-information departmen’s have already been formed to contribute to the needed structural reform.
Also–the National Assembly restored the office of deputy chairman both in the parliament and standing committees.
Yesayan emphasized that work on vital laws regarding economic integration with Armenia is continuing. As for the prospects of interparliamentary ties–the Speaker stressed the priority of further development of relations with Armenia.
He said that a Karabakh delegation will visit Yerevan following the election–in order to reach an agreement on interparliamentary relations.
He added that the strengthening of interparliamentary relations will contribute to the growth of parliamentary and political culture of deputies–as well as joint discussion of the Karabakh conflict resolution.
Yesayan refrained from commenting on the presidential election–however he stated that the vote belongs to the citizens of Armenia–as citizens of Karabakh would only be concerned about a candidate’s stance on the Karabakh issue.
