The Central Executive of the Armenian Relief Society congratulated president Robert Kocgharian on his election. Below is a translated text of that letter:
Honorable Mr. President,
With indefinite content–we write this short letter to congratulate your election to the high office of President of the Republic of Armenia. Your victory–which is the result of Armenian citizens’ free and fair voting–inspires the hearts and minds of all Armenia’s with new hope and zeal.
The thousands of ARS members in Armenia and the Diaspora–alongside their sister organizations–share our emotions and best wishes–ready and willing to offer their support and active participation to the re-establishment of a free and truly democratic Armenia.
We believe that with your wise and dedicated leadership our homeland will take its deserved place next to the civilized and cultured nations of the world.
