YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Settlement talks of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh must resume in a comprehensive way–and continue without any pre-conditions–said Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian in an interview with Respublika Armenii daily Thursday.
According to Oskanian–a comprehensive settlement as well as the resumption of talks will speed up final resolution of the problem–providing the settlement not allow for complications in the future and be a basis for a lasting peace.
Oskanian also said resumption of talks without any pre-conditions meant the Lisbon principles be removed from any document as they impede the quest for mutually acceptable resolution.
Speaking of major tasks of the Foreign Ministry–Oskanian stressed the importance of establishing good relations with its neighbors. According to him–Armenia presently has good relations with two of its neighbors–Iran and Georgia–and that normalization of relations with all its neighbors will depend on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Relations with Russia are also of particular importance for Armenia–Oskanian said.
