YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)– Special status notes are made in the Armenian passports that are issued to citizens of Nagorno Karabakh–the presidential spokeswoman Kassia Apkarian told Noyan Tapan. She pointed out that the reason for this is that citizens of Karabakh have old Soviet passports–which create difficulties for them when moving. There is also a note in the passports certifying that the special status is provided by the Armenian government.
Apkarian also pointed out that foreign citizens of Armenian descent–who visit Armenia frequently–or foreigners who carry out economic and cultural activities in Armenia are also granted special status. The special status which is granted for a period of ten years may be granted more than once.
