BEIRUT–The seventh general assembly of the Homenetmen Armenian General Athletic Union and Scouting concluded its activities Monday with election of a new Central Executive–which will be in office for the upcoming four years.
The assembly elected a 13-member executive which is comprised of the following: Puzant Torigian–Stepan Der-Bedrossian–Karnig Mkrditchian–Harutiun Chekidjian and Bedig Saboundjian of Lebanon; Manuel Halladjian of Syria; Mourad Manougian of the Eastern United States; Jirair Sarkissian and Koko Balian of the Western US; Abraham Aharonian of South America; Hratch Siserian of France; Hratch Der-Sarkissian of Canada; and Sarkis Der-Bedrossian of Australia.
During the past six days–the general assembly meticulously discussed and evaluated the various spectrums of Homenetmen activities–and through special committees focused on Homenetmen’s athletic–scouting–financial–organizational–constitutional–Marzig magazine and Armenia activities.
After evaluating the report of the outgoing Central Executive–the assembly praised the activities of the past four years.
On Easter Sunday–all participants of the general assembly visited the Cilcian Catholicosate and met with His Holiness Aram I–Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia.
On behalf of the meeting and the entire Homenetmen family–outgoing Central Executive chairman Misak Arzoumanian conveyed greetings to the pontiff and expressed the organization’s gratitude for Catholicos’ interest and encouragement toward the Homenetmen.
Aram I met with all delegates and participants of the general assembly–praised Homenetmen for its activities and welcomed the convention of the seventh general assembly in Lebanon as a sign of that community’s continued growth.
