GENEVA (ARF Press)–His Holiness Aram I–Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia met on Saturday with chairman of the UN Human Rights Commission–Dr. Liandro Despui. Also present at the meeting were ARF Bureau member Mario Nalbandian of the Armenian National Committee of Europe–and Teni Piri Simonian of the World Council of Churches.
The Armenian Genocide–the situation in the Middle East–and the violation of human rights around the world were touched upon during the two hour meeting. The role of the World Council of Churches in the protection of human rights was also discussed.
Issues regarding the pursuit of the Armenian Cause on various levels was also reviewed during the meeting.
