GEORGIA (Interfax News Agency)–The Virk party of ethnic Armenia’s living in Georgia has urged Tbilisi to cooperate with Moscow in eradicating international terrorists in the Pankisi Gorge. "Cooperation is necessary. If the Georgian authorities show a genuine desire to end the rebel presence in the Pankisi Gorge–many ethnic Armenia’s would volunteer to participate in the operation," Virk co-chairman David Rstakian told Interfax.
Rstakian spoke mainly about the Armenian community in Samtskha-Djavakhety. "If the Georgian authorities propose a volunteer mission to the Pankisi Gorge–a lot of Djavakhety Armenia’s will participate in the anti-criminal operation. The presence of militants and foreign mercenaries in the Pankisi Gorge pose a threat to all peoples in the Caucasus," he said.
