LA CRESCENTA–The Western Prelacy Saturday hosted an open house for Southern California elected officials under the auspices of Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian and with the participation of members of Prelacy parishes and councils, representatives of sister organizations, and benefactors.
The open house was organized by the Western Prelacy Outreach Committee and the Armenian National Committee Western Region with the purpose of more closely familiarizing California elected officials with the work that is carried out at the Prelacy and to provide an opportunity for our community to meet with their representatives.
Among those in attendance were Deputy Consul General of the Republic of Armenia Mesrob Shaboyan, Congressman Adam Schiff, Assembly members Mike Feuer, Anthony Portantino, and Paul Krekorian, Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti, Councilmember Dennis Zine, Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian, former State Assembly member Carol Liu, and representatives from the offices of Congressman Brad Sherman, State Senator Jack Scott, Councilmember Wendy Greuel, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich. Also present were representatives of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee, Armenian National Committee-Western Region board members and local chapters, Homenentmen and Armenian Relief Society Central and Regional Executives, and Hamazkayin Regional Executive.
In his welcoming remarks the Prelate spoke of the role of the Prelacy in the lives of the Armenian people and expressed confidence that the bond between the Prelacy and elected officials would only get stronger in the future. The Prelate also presented the officials with mementos and they in turn presented the Prelate with congratulatory resolutions.
