TEHRAN (Tehran Times)–A performance by Armenia’s Youth State Orchestra has been canceled due to the ongoing political unrest in Iran following the June 12 Iranian presidential election.
The performance, which was to take place at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall, had been scheduled for July 1 to 3 and was to be led by the Orchestra’s chief conductor and artistic director Sergey Smbatyan. Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto was among the many pieces in store for the performance.
The Orchestra includes over 70 musicians, who are between the ages of 16 and 24 and are also students of the Yerevan State Conservatory.
