ANKARA (Hurriyet)—Turkish President Abdullah Gul urged his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev to exercise the Kremlin’s influence with Yerevan to push for a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia during a phone conversation on Saturday.
According to diplomatic sources, Gul also expressed Ankara’s feeling of unease with the Armenian Constitutional Court’s ruling on the Armenia-Turkey protocols.
Armenia’s high court, on January 12, ruled that the Armenia-Protocols were in line with Armenia’s Constitution, but highlighted that the protocols had no link to the Karabakh conflict, and could not hinder Armenia’s efforts to garner international recognition for the Armenian Genocide as outlined in Armenia’s Declaration of Independence.
The Turkish President told Medvedev that the ruling contains preconditions and restrictive provisions. He urged Medvedev to play a ‘more active role’ with Yerevan in order to keep the normalization process on track.
“We hope no one wants to risk the protocols. Peace and stability in the Caucasus is desirable for everyone,” Gul said. “We need a clarification as to whether the court ruling will shadow or restrict the protocols.”
Medvedev in reply said, “We appreciate Turkey’s peace efforts for the Caucasus. We closely follow the parties [Azerbaijan and Armenia]. No one has the right to derail the protocols.” The Russian President promised to be in close contact with Yerevan and continue encouraging the normalization efforts.
Medvedev also confirmed an upcoming visit to Turkey set for the second week of May when he will co-chair the first meeting of the bilateral cooperation council.
The Russian Embassy to Ankara, in a written-statement said, “This visit will play a key role for Turkish-Russian relations in the future.”
What is this? Tick or Tack? It seems like when Turkey goes to US or Russia, US and Russian officials promise they will watch out for Turkey’s benefit and urge and encourage Armenia to hurry up and get this done.. but once Turkey leaves, they turn into ” OH BUT WE ARE NEUTRAL and WE ARE ARMENIA’S SIDE because this and that…” what the heck is this? what a circus…
They are all clowns…. they all belong in the circus not in the government..

Time is running out for Turkey and everybody knows that . Turkey will retify the protocols even without any withdrawal from the liberated lands of Karapahk .
Turkey has no options, no choice . Only to open borders and have “NO PRECONDITION” relationship with Armenia!
If he doesn’t he can “NOT” join Europe!
