BURNAK—The Armenian National Committee of America— Burbank on February 7 introduced its endorsed candidates to community leaders and activists at its traditional reception. Some 40 people gathered to meet and greet city council candidates, Gary Bric and Bob Frutos, and School Board candidates, Dave Kemp, Ted Bunch, and Roberta Reynolds.
Hosted by Apo and Nora Tashdjian, the intimate gathering provided an opportunity for their neighbors, ARS and Homenetmen members, and ANCA—B activists to mingle and discuss important issues with the candidates.
Overlooking the Burbank city skyline, guests began the evening with a social hour, enjoying appetizers and wine. Candidates gave a short speech outlining their individual goals and objectives. The evening closed with an opportunity for the candidates and audience to further discuss concerns of the Burbank Armenian community.
ANCA-B Electoral-Political Chair Armond Aghakhanian commented, “These types of gatherings allow us to continue our bridge-building with our neighbors and leaders, allowing us to enhance the community we live in. The Tashdjians’ hospitality is an example of this positive mindset we bring to all our efforts. We appreciate their efforts very much.”
Burbank has “all-mail” elections. The Burbank City Clerk must receive all Vote-by-Mail ballots by February 22nd for the Primary Nomination Election. Please note that this date is a “received by” deadline and not a postmark deadline; therefore, please hand deliver your ballots to the City clerk’s office if you haven’t mailed them yet. If candidates do not fill all of the available seats for City Council and School Board with a simple majority (50%-plus-one) of the votes, a follow-up General Municipal Election on April 12th will determine the winners.
ANCA Burbank Goes for Comedy

ANCA-B FUNdraising Chair Annette Kargodorian remarked wryly, “We’re always serious. It was time to take a leap to the lighter side, have some fun, and raise some money for our projects. I hope to make this the first of many such FUNdraisers this year. It’s going to be an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere where everyone can have a few good laughs and contribute to a good cause.”
Your donation of $35 will include food and non-alcoholic beverages. A full cash bar will be available. Also, we will be auctioning off a few items, including a lifetime pass to Flappers Comedy Club! Please contact Annette Kargodorian to purchase tickets (phone: 818/956-5201, email: akar214@aol.com).
