WASHINGTON—The Armenian National Committee of America will kick off its 27th season of the Leo Sarkissian Washington D.C. Internship program this summer! This prestigious annual program is a once in a lifetime opportunity to volunteer in the capital of our nation.
Established in 1985, the Leo Sarkissian Internship program is a cornerstone of the ANCA’s nationwide efforts to educate, motivate and activate Armenian American youth to expand advocacy efforts in their home towns and campuses. It provides students the opportunity to learn the political process first hand in the nation’s capitol.
The program promises to provide students with hands-on experience addressing issues of concern to the Armenian-American community through the American political process and government. Interns will assist the ANCA board with various political research and projects on current legislation, will represent the views of the ANCA at political events and conferences and have the opportunity to develop their negotiation and lobbying skills by meeting with public officials on Capitol Hill. In addition, interns will have the opportunity to attend a series of lectures that teach vital advocacy skills that are necessary in any political career. Students will gain all this work experience while having the entire summer to explore one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the world. Accepted applicants will be provided with free housing during the course of the entire internship, which runs 8 weeks from late June to mid August.
All university students are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is Friday, April 1, 2011. Email info@ancpn.com or fill out the application here.
