STEPANAKERT (Combined Sources)–Over 120 political scientists, historians, professors, and Armenian community leaders from Armenia and some twenty countries throughout the Diaspora will be in Stepanakert on July 10-11 for a special summit organized by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) to address the current impasse in Armenia’s rapprochement with Turkey and the uncertainties surrounding the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
Co-organized with Nagorno-Karabakh’s government, the conference will address growing concerns among Armenia’s society over the precarious course of negotiations for both issues. The document to come out of the meeting will be adopted as the ARF’s platform for addressing the current crisis facing Armenia, Manoyan said.
“The conference is being held because of the fact that the Armenian-Turkish relations and the current stage of the negotiations on Nagorno Karabakh arise many concerns among the society,” said Giro Manoyan, the ARF’s political Director.
The ARF believes the Armenian authorities should immediately withdraw from talks with Turkey, which has manipulated the year-long process in an effort to scuttle international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and to gain a foothold in internationally mediated peace talks for Karabakh, Manoyan said.
Manoyan also noted that the conference will formulate a means for ensuring the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s direct participation in the OSCE Minsk Group mediated negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
