SYDNEY–Team Armenia won its second bronze medal at the Sydney Olympic Games Tuesday–when 26-year-old Ashot Danielyan was ranked third in the 105 kilogram-plus weightlifting competition.
The gold medal in that competition went to Iran’s Hussein Rezazadeh–garnering a second gold for Iran.
Also on Tuesday–Russia’s 21-year-old Varderes Samourkachev–whose brother Raphael is competing on Team Armenia–won a gold medal in the 63 kilogram Greco-Roman wrestling competition–beating Cuba’s Juan Luis Maren.
In the K1 1000 meter kayak competition–Armenia’s Vladimir Krushik was ranled fifth–and will compete in the semi-finals of that category. He will also compete in the 500 meter competition for the same category.
