LOS ANGELES – The Armenian American Medical Society will mark four decades of service, growth, and impact at its 40th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, April 5, at The Landmark in Mission Hills. The evening will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, and entertainment, bringing together healthcare professionals, community leaders, and supporters to honor the organization’s remarkable journey.
AAMS was founded on a warm August evening in 1985, when a group of local Armenian physicians and their spouses gathered at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Misak Barsamian with a shared vision: to build professional relationships and enhance healthcare services in Armenia and the Diaspora. What started as a modest gathering has since evolved into the world’s largest organization for Armenian medical professionals, offering critical resources, humanitarian aid, and educational initiatives to support healthcare practitioners and patients worldwide.
“This milestone celebration will pay tribute to our past presidents, whose leadership, dedication, and vision have been instrumental in shaping AAMS into the dynamic organization it is today,” said Gala Co-Chair Elizabeth Zoryan, RN, BSN, PHN. “We are deeply grateful for their commitment to advancing healthcare and fostering a strong professional network.”
The evening will honor 14 former AAMS presidents, recognizing their invaluable contributions in strengthening the organization’s mission and impact.
Proceeds from the gala will support healthcare advancements in Armenia and the expansion of the AAMS scholarship program. “Investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals is essential to securing a healthier future for our global community,” said Co-Chair Sherwin Hariri, MD, FAAAAI, FACAAI. “By bridging medical gaps in Armenia and fostering high-quality care, we pay homage to those who have shaped AAMS’ legacy.”
