YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Defense Minister Serzh Sarkisian Friday met with US charge d’affaires Anthony Godfrey. The press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry told Armenpress that during the meeting Godfrey provided a brief overview of President George Bush’s speech Wednesday regarding the new US strategy in Iraq. In the speech the president particularly underscored the security in Iraq, issues on establishing stability, economic development and peace. In discussing Sarkisian’s recent visit to Iraq, Godfrey highly assessed Armenia’s participation in international peacekeeping mission and pointed out the high level of preparedness of the Armenian peacekeepers.
