The Armenian Film Society has announced the dates for the 2024 Armenian Film Festival, which will be held from September 4 to 8 at LOOK Cinemas in Glendale, California.
The inaugural Armenian Film Festival was held in 2023 and drew in over 1,500 attendees from all over the world, including Armenia, China, and the Netherlands, over the course of five days of sold-out screenings. 2023’s opening night film, “Amerikatsi,” went on to become the first Armenian film to ever be shortlisted for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards.
Founded in 2015 by husband and wife Armen and Mary Karaoghlanian, Armenian Film Society champions Armenian films and unites Armenian filmmakers. Armenian Film Society has partnered with notable organizations such as Vidiots, American Cinematheque, and the Academy Museum, and has welcomed hosted events with guests such as Atom Egoyan, Joe Manganiello, Sona Movsesian, Sev Ohanian, Natalie Qasabian, Angela Sarafyan, Serj Tankian, and Howard Kazanjian.
The program will be announced in the coming months, but this year’s film festival promises to be a celebration of Armenian films and filmmakers, featuring premieres, screenings, panel discussions with filmmakers, and networking opportunities, over the course of five days.
Submissions for films are now open on FilmFreeway. Those interested in sponsoring the Armenian Film Festival can get in touch via email at info@armenianfilmsociety.com.
