LOS ANGELES—The Armenian Law Students Association at Southwestern Law School held a speaker panel for students on October 17. The speaker panel featured prominent Armenian attorneys in Los Angeles that came together to discuss the practice of law and to give advice to future attorneys.
The event was organized by the Armenian Law Students Association at Southwestern. As an afternoon event on campus, students were able to take a break from their rigorous schedules and spend their lunch hour with practicing attorneys eager to answer questions and share their experiences.
Among the panelists were Gerard Kassabian, Lina Melidonian, Sally Avitsian, Janet Nalbandyan and Tigran Palyan. All alumni of Southwestern, the attorneys came to a lunchtime panel designed to give students an opportunity to hear from attorneys specializing in a variety of practice fields. Aside from gaining practical information about different areas of practice, the event allowed the students to interact with the panelists in a question and answer session. “ It was a great opportunity to hear from attorneys who have built a successful career in the legal field” remarked Lilith Mansuryan, a 2nd year student at Southwestern, “the speaker panel was very informative and it was great to see Armenian graduates return to give their two cents on what law students should expect and prepare for” added Mansuryan.
Boasting a large Armenian student body of approximately, one-hundred day, part-time, and evening students, the speaker panel was well attended by Armenian and non-Armenian students alike. “It’s important for our students to have the opportunity to network and speak with practicing attorneys,” said Vahagn Amirian, a 3rd year student and co-president of the Armenian Law Students Association, “we were very fortunate to have Southwestern Law School’s Armenian alumni return to offer diverse perspectives on their law school experiences and post-law school career paths to students on campus” Amirian concluded.
