GLENDALE–On Tuesday–April 3–Glendale residents turned out to vote for the Glendale City Council–Glendale Unified School District–and Glendale Community College Board of Trustees elections. The Armenian-American community of Glendale was once again an active voting group in this year’s municipal elections. Armenian-American candidates were elected in each of the three races.
The three open seats for the Glendale City Council race were captured by Bob Yousefian (6,607 votes)–Frank Quintero (6,867 votes)–and Dave Weaver (7,225 votes).
A newcomer and two incumbents were elected to the Glendale Unified School District Board of Education. Greg Krikorian(8,075 votes)–along with incumbents Jeanne Bentley(8,149 votes) and Chuck Sambar (8,071 votes) won out of a pool of 10 candidates.
The winners of the Glendale Community College Board of Trustees race are Armine Hacopian (9,866 votes)–Victor King (10,803 votes)–and Mary Hamilton (11,961 votes). Hacopian–a college professor and educator of over 30 years was the newcomer. Hamilton–who has been on the board for 6 years–and current board President Victor King were the two incumbents.
