84 Artsakh Soldiers Have Died
Azerbaijani forces their attacks on all front of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan border, with a new large-scale attack launched Monday evening in the Arax River Valley, in the Mataghis-Talish districts of Artsakh. Meanwhile, Stepanakert is reporting that 84 Artsakh soldiers have been killed by Azerbaijani forces.
Artsakh Defense Ministry reported that Armenian soldiers are defending the frontline positions effectively causing significant losses to the Azerbaijani forces—both heavy manpower and military equipment.
The Artsakh Armed Forces are reporting large number of Azerbaijani casualties, with soldiers leaving the dead on the battlefield as they retreat. During the battle, Artsakh soldiers destroyed 22 tanks and 10 military vehicles.
Photographs and videos obtained by Artsakh Armed Forces, clearly demonstrate that Azerbaijan started the attacks on Sunday and has been deploying heavy military hardware in its efforts to attack civilian and military targets in Artsakh.
Earlier on Monday, Artsakh forces repelled an offensive in the south, while civilian targets were bombarded by Azerbaijani forces in the north.
Combat operations of varied intensity took place along the entire perimeter of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact, Armenian military representative Artsrun Hovhannisyan said at a news conference.
He said the most active operations were centered in the north and south.
“The rather heavy attacks by Azerbaijani armed forces in the south of Artsakh have been repelled. During the countermeasures Azerbaijan lost 10 or 11 armored military vehicles, mostly tanks,” said Hovhannisyan. “The enemy was repelled to its starting position and right now there is relative calm and light battles are underway.”
“Azerbaijan used heavy artillery strikes, bombarding civilian settlements in the north, namely Martakert and adjacent settlements. Reporters working at the scene also came under fire,” Hovhannisyan explained.
As of midnight Tuesday Armenia time, the Defense Ministry reported that Armenian forces destroyed 49 Azerbaijani drones, 4 copters, 80 units of armored vehicles and one jet.
