GLENDALE—The Chamliam school announced last week that Liana Issagholian, a second grade Chamlian Armenian School student, has been selected as one of the winners of the 32nd Annual Children’s Bookmark Contest sponsored by the County of Los Angeles Public Library. Liana was one of six Chamlian students who competed at the district level after winning at the local level.
In a congratulatory letter, Supervisor Michael Antonovich from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors commended Liana for her creative and original bookmark design which beautifully portrayed her love of books, reading and the library.
On Tuesday, February 14, the Board of Supervisors honored Liana, as well as other Bookmark Contest winners, at an informal reception. The reception was followed by a special award ceremony at the Board of Supervisor’s meeting where the winners were presented with scrolls and gifts. Puppies in colorful outfits were also brought to the chambers by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) for the winners to enjoy. Liana’s bookmark will be printed by Pentel of America and distributed to county libraries, where it will go on display during National Library Week in April.
