ANKARA (Hurriyet)—Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu announced on Dec. 5 that he would be visiting Armenia next week, marking a first diplomatic push since the protocols between the two countries signed in 2009 which foresaw the development of relations, including a decision on opening the borders, was shelved.
Davutoğlu said he accepted Armenia’s invitation to attend a meeting of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Yerevan on Dec. 12.
“Turkey is one of the founding members of the organization. Its headquarters are located in Istanbul, where Armenia, which is a member of the organization, also has a representative. I received the invitation and decided to accept it after consulting the president,” Davutoğlu told reporters during a press conference in Ankara.
Davutoğlu met with his Armenian counterpart Eduard Nalbandian earlier on Dec. 5 during a council of ministers gathering of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) held in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. He also held meetings with his Azeri counterpart Elmar Memmadyarov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to discuss talks on the thorny Nagorno-Karabakh issue which Ankara considers as key for a thaw in its relations with Yerevan.
As usual he’s gone act like he’s government is engaged in talks with the Armenian government ,to prevent any other nation thinking of recognizing the armenian genocide, same scenario different year
There is something that really bothers me why should turks be allowed to interfere with the Artsakh situation.
Aren’t they the once who destroyed our nation and almost exterminated us?
Today Turkey occupies historical Armenian lands which belong to Armenians why should we allow the murderers and occupiers of our lands and people to interfere with Artsakh peace solution doesn’t make sense.
They still occupy Northern Cyprus let them solve their own problems how is it allowd that a occupier is allowed to interfere in other territorial issues from other countries.
That’s because the Turkish leaders are liars and insincere opportunists. Even though, as outsiders and genocidal non-natives, they have established themselves in the region by eliminating the natives, when it comes to the Armenian affairs, rest-assured they always have ulterior motives and interfere in Karabakh conflict, among other things, for the following reasons:
1. To portray the Armenians in a bad light as aggressors
2. To shift focus away from legitimate Armenian demands from Turkey
3. To manufacture false reasons to close borders with Armenia, in favor of Azerbaijan on the surface when Turkey itself was never a party to the conflict, in order to force Armenians to give up on their legitimate demands from Turkey
4. To receive cheap Azerbaijani oil as a form of bribe from Azerbaijan for their stand against Armenia
As you can see, all these reasons benefit Turkey and not Azerbaijan other than the illusion that Turkey is looking out for Azerbaijan. One of the main reasons the artificial state of Azerbaijan itself was established in 1918, for the first time in the history of mankind, was to have a Turkish foothold in the region to expand the Pan-Turkic ideology in the Caucasus in order to wipe off the map what was left of Eastern Armenia after committing genocide on the Armenians in 1915 and confiscating Western Armenian provinces.
Turkey uses Azerbaijan for itself selfish anti-Armenian schemes and Azerbaijan uses Turkey for hers. The relationship they have, in regards to the Armenian affairs, is much like the relationship between a pimp and a prostitute. They interchange their roles as such and as often as they need to.
Another example of the filthy Turkish anti-Armenian schemes is when and for as long as they had good relations with Israel, they hid behind and used the Jewish lobby in the United Sates to fight against the Armenian Genocide resolutions but as soon as their relations with Israel started to deteriorate, because of the Mavi Marmara incident, they turned against Israel and became spokesmen for the Palestinian terrorist organizations.
Always remember:
Հայը թուրքին կարելի է վստահել միայն երբ իրեն տասը մետր գետնի տակ թաղի.
It would be better for him to stay home. His visit will be used by the western powers as a sign of thawing relations between Armenia and Turkey, hence avoiding the thorny issue of recognizing the Genocide and mitigating the consequences of the Genocide in particular the realization of Wilsonian Armenia.
Obama must be thrilled, so he can rationalize his denial of the Genocide.
Davutoglu spoke at Brookings recently. I asked him whether he would consider opening diplomatic relations with Armenia. He was non-committal in his response, which was on the record. It would at least be a start. Neither side would need to give up any legal position; look at Russia and Japan: huge territorial dispute, but they have full relations. Turkey and Armenia have de facto relations already. Opening the border is harder because of the opposition of Azerbaijan, but that can wait. Let’s hope something good comes of this visit.
Dear Ambassador Evans, unfortunately fully feathered colorful Turkey is dancing for Obama and his lovely team. Even Turkey open the border, they will install an artificial on/off switch on it…Turks don’t care for Artsakh they worry about Western Armenia and recognition of AG. They are punishing Armenia, and Genocide survivors, base on Turkey’s geopolitical location and importance of NATO military bases, for US ! Russia and Japan have full access to ocean and they are not landlocked, like Armenia!
here we go again, turkey is shopping at the bazaar again it has it’s own agenda, it is never sincere it wants to look as a peace maker, and make the world think that it is talking to Armenia and wants to open the border, this is nonsense, it is a distraction from world genocide recognition. it will never have good will towards Armenia. it will never open the border unless she gets something signification from Armenia or the west. TURKEY IS NEVER TO BE TRUSTED
Dear John,
No body asked for your advise. Please concern yourself with your nation’s other imperial matters. At the very least, ask your bosses in Washington to end the NATO blockade of Armenia.
We hope the visit by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davtuoglu on attending the Black Sea Economic Cooperation meeting will be discussing the well documented Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923 by the Ottoman Government, as well as Armenian territories that were taken away after the 1st World War by the Kemal regime & the Lenin Communist regime to be returned to the Armenian Republic, along with discussion of the Sevres Treaty signed by Turkey, Armenia & 16 Allies after the 1st WW. Also reparation to the Armenian Nation besides the land returns.
Now with Russia firmly behind Armenia, we don’t have much to worry about when it comes to pressuring us to accept unfavorable terms.
There is, however, one problem. Russia did not attempt to exterminate the Japanese in a Genocide. The dispute between Armenia / Armenians worldwide and Turkey is a result of crimes of Genocide. And that is why Turkey is in possession of Armenia’s lands.
Let’s see if our hysterical anti-Putin protesters will be out protesting when the Turk arrives…
Multi-respectful Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, shall I send a red apple after You visit?
