YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)"The Armenian side is in an unfavorable situation at the present stage of the Karabakh conflict," said Aram Sargsian–chairman of the Democratic Party of Armenia.
Commenting on statemen’s by the US State Department and US Ambassador to Armenia’saying that Karabakh should remain within Azerbaijan–Sargsian said that Armenia had failed to find credible partners who would back it in this matter and failed to launch an appropriate campaign.
All countries speak and act in accordance with their own interests–Sargsian said–adding that the current situation is the result of discrepancies in Armenian diplomacy. All Armenian communities are bound to show unity in the Karabakh problem–he added.
According to the Democratic leader–there are contradictions in the State Department statement– and if territorial integrity is an agreed upon standard–then national self-determination is an international right.
Armenian diplomacy–Sargsian said–should be consistent in negotiations with its main ally–Russia.
