AINJAR–Lebanon–Unknown assailants have destroyed close to 200 fruit trees in three orchards located in the village of Ainjar (Lebanon). The incident occurred on the night of April 6–and was aimed at stirring up tension among the Armenian residents of Ainjar.
In response–the ARF Central Committee of Lebanon and Minister Sebouh Hovnanian appealed to relevant bodies to look into the matter. The Lebanese army has set up checkpoints in the area. The police have also arrested suspects.
The Armenian inhabitants of Ainjar have handled the situation discreetly–and have avoided getting caught up in any attempts to cause unrest.
