YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenian Parliament Speaker Khosrov Haroutiunian met with his Karabakh counterpart Oleg Yesayan March 4 to discuss cooperation between the two parliamen’s. The work of the interparliamentary commission was also addressed.
The Karabakh top legislator briefed the Armenian speaker on President Arkady Ghoukassian’s tour of the United States.
The two also discussed the latest initiatives by Khosrov Haroutiunian presented to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. According to Yesayan–Karabakh is closely following the interparliamentary contacts between Armenia and other countries and appreciate this work. The sides spoke for involving the Karabakh Parliament into the processes taking place within the framework of the PACE.
Judicial reforms also became a subject for discussion at the meeting.
Addressing the Karabakh conflict–the two spoke for direct contacts between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan and the resumption of peace talks. The role of the parliamen’s–with their potential–was stressed in that regard.
