YEREVAN (Armenpress)—Creating a space for Armenian designers to further develop their skills, Fashion Forum Yerevan launched on June 25. The event not only offers educational forums, but also encourages designers from Armenia to engage with their international counterparts.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s wife Anna Hakobyan attended the grand opening of Fashion Forum Yerevan. The event kicked off with the “Heritage” fashion show, featuring Armenian designer apparel and accessories. The forum will be held until June 29, at the Vordan Karmir Armenian Carpet Museum in Downtown Yerevan.
Designer Vahan Khachatryan, the head of the Fashion and Design Chamber–one of the sponsors of the event—presented the collection to Hakobyan. In his remarks, Khachatryan thanked Hakobyan for supporting Armenian designers. Hakobyan is known for wearing exclusively Armenian-made clothing in order to promote the local industry.
The forum’s educational portion will take place from June 26 – 27, in Yerevan’s TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, where more than a dozen foreign designers, stylists, fashion bloggers and reporters will share their knowledge with the Armenian fashion industry.
The fashion event has cultural aspects, as well. Representatives of the international fashion industry will visit the province of Tavush in a tour co-sponsored by the My Armenia project of the Smithsonian Institute.
The event is co-sponsored by Vahan Khachatryan’s Fashion and Design Chamber, the EU and the Tourism Committee of the Armenian government.
