YEREVAN (ArmRadio)–President Serzh Sarkisian awarded Alain Terzian, the head of the Union of French Film Producers, on Monday with the Armenian Medal of Honor.
Terzian is the Chairman of French Academy of Cinema Art and Cesar award ceremony and the Administrator of the Cannes Film Festival jury.
According to a July 13th presidential decree, Terzian was given the Medal of Honor for his considerable contribution to the development of cinematography, as well as for his close cooperation with the motherland and his activity targeted at deepening of the Armenian-French relationship.
Bestowing upon him the esteemed state award, President Sarkisian welcomed the first visit of the world-famous director to Armenia and noted that Armenia is “proud to have a compatriot like Alain Terzian.”
“I am very glad, proud and excited to be in Armenia, my historic motherland,” said Terzian. “I had a strange feeling, when I stepped on the Armenian land. It’s something that only an Armenian that has wished to be in Armenia throughout his life can feel. My dream came true, at last.”
The French-Armenian artist said that has been impressed by the Golden Apricot Film Festival, the Yerevan-based annual film festival whose purpose is to present new works by Armenian directors and producers, which has been acquiring popularity with the passage of years.
