AN ESTIMATED $120,000 COLLECTED DURING CELEBRATIONS DEDICATED TO THE FOUNDING OF THE CHURCH
SAN FERNANDO VALLEY–On November 7–The San Fernando Valley Armenian community celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Holy Martyrs Apostolic Church. The event took place at the Ararat Home Deukmejian Hall–under the auspices of Prelate Moushegh Mardirossian. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie and Evelyn Guerboyan presided over the event.
Guests included the church’s first parish priest Vahrij Shrinian–as well as board of trustees chairman from 1960-62 George Kafesjian. Also in attendance were the children of the church’s founding board of trustees chairman–the late Florindo Arklin–who–in honor of their father’s memory–made a generous donation to the church.
Knar Kortoshian delivered an address on behalf of the organizing committee. Rev. Razmig Khatchadourian–board of trustees chairman George Bedikian–Steve Arklin–and George Kafesjian also offered remarks.
A candlelighting ceremony took place–followed by an artistic program.
In closing the evening–Prelate Mardirossian delilvered his message–stressing the important role Holy Martyrs church assumes in everyone’s lives.
On November 9–a blessing of the madagh took place in the "Avedissian" hall.
On this occasion–a monument was dedicated to founding Board of TrusteeS chairman Florindo Arklin. The monument was donated by the California Landscape & Contractors Association.
The Prelate ordained Arklin’s monument–praying for the blessing of his spirit.
