YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–23657.7 tons of goods worth a total of $45.8 million were brought to Armenia as humanitarian aid from January to August 2000. 41.6 percent of the aid was goods of the chemical and related industries; 12 percent to machinery–devices–and mechanisms; 9.4 percent to equipment; 6.5 percent to products of vegetable origin and 6.3 percent to products of organic origin.
Humanitarian aid was received from 25 countries. 74 percent of the total volume of the aid was supplied by the United States–9 percent by Italy–5.9 percent by Japan–3.1 percent by Greece and 2.9 percent by France.
