YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Central Bank of Armenian reported that on Thursday its president Bagrat Asatryan met with International Monetary Fund’s representative to Armenia George Anayetos at the latter’s request. Anayetos noted that within the next two to three days the IMF Council will be considering a number of issues regarding the economic policy of Armenia. Anayetos inquired about the Central Bank’s president’s resignation and how it will affect measures to ensure the targets of the country’s credit policy.
Asatryan noted that the aims of Armenia’s economic policy this year and the programs of the first quarter which meet the economic policy pursued by the government have been already publicized and deviations are impossible. He stressed that the Central Bank is an established structure and its supreme authority–the Council–will continue its work.
Both Asatryan and Anayetos expressed hope that IMF-CB cooperation will continue to secure Armenia’s economic progress.
