BY YARON WEISS
The Israeli government’s support for Azerbaijan is unacceptable and disgraceful. Many Israelis are concerned about the cooperation between Israel and one of the darkest dictatorships in the world. Earlier this year, Zehava Galon, one of the leaders of the opposition in Israel, accused Avigdor Lieberman, Israel’s Defense Minister, as a “foreign agent” collaborating with the government of Azerbaijan.
Many Israelis feel empathy and solidarity towards Armenia. The two nations have suffered genocide. Armenia is a small country surrounded by enemies as Israel. However, the Israeli government’s policy is the opposite of the feelings of Israeli citizens. It seems that the Israeli government sells its values for money.
Netanyahu warned the world that Iran is a dangerous country and threatens to exterminate Israel. He demands to impose sanctions on Iran. But at the same time, he sells weapons to Azerbaijan who threatens Armenia.
Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia is similar to Iran’s aggression against Israel.
Even in the past, Israel has sold weapons to dictatorships. As a result, oppressed nations began to hate Israel. Everyone remembers the cooperation between Israel and South Africa during apartheid regime. It is no coincidence that South Africa’s Goverment is hostile toward Israel.
In the seventies, Israel sold weapons to the Shah of Iran. Later, the weapons turned against Israel. This is what is likely to happen with Israeli weapons in Azerbaijan.
Two months ago, I visited in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic), and met a courageous and determined people. Nothing in the world will change the fact that Artsakh has been and will be forever Armenian. No drones and no sophisticated weapon systems can subdue the courage of the Armenians. We will continue to demand that the Israeli government stop selling weapons to Azerbaijan. We will continue to demand that the Israeli government will adopt a moral foreign policy. It is proven that relationships between countries based on shared values persist for a long time.
We have seen in the past that giving priority to material interests alone without moral partnership do not hold for long. I believe that in the end, common sense will prevail.
The question is, how many victims will there be until that time?

ara – I agree that Israelis are after the Iranians but if someone supplies a murderer a weapon to kill and knows, without a doubt, who the murderer’s intended target is then doesn’t that mean he is an enabler helping the murderer to commit murder and therefore he is, even indirectly, an accomplice to the murder? I would say he is an accomplice to the murder for sure.
Similarly, if Israeli agents in the US government are using their political power to get another murderer, the genocidal Turkey, to get away with murder then aren’t they enablers and accomplices in this case as well? I would definitely say they are accomplices in the denial of the Armenian Genocide but unlike the case with Azerbaijan , which is motivated by greed and lack of conscious for Armenian lives along with military schemes on Iran next door, helping Turkey get away with the Armenian Genocide has more to do with establishing monopoly on genocide victimhood and therefore focusing the world’s attention on them primarily so that foreign aids, in tens of billions of dollars, will keep pouring into Israel so they can use those billions to continue their political aims and to develop sophisticated weaponry to sell to exploit conflicts around the world to their advantage.
Israeli leaders never miss the opportunity to tell the world about their Holocaust and the need for those billions to survive but at the same time they not only never lift a finger to help others in similar situation but they also use their misery to enrich themselves without any regard to their safety. It is much like if you are not one of them you are dispensable to them.

Asking them to stop selling billion in weapons will not work. Better yet, as Armenian Americans why not demand from OUR US CONGRESSMAN AND SENATORS no more support for Israel and help create that campaign instead? Study after study shows that most Americans cant agree on what programs to cut but All agree to cut foreign aid. 48 billion US TAX PAYERS DOLLARS “military aid” for a country that has 200 nuclear war heads is ridiculous. . Also their lobby historically has intervened on behalf of Turks every time the Armenian Genocide resolution comes up here in the US. They don’t seem to care. Image if Armenians did that for their Holocaust resolutions.? Lets be clear: Israel is no friend NOR WILL BE to Armenians.

Netanyahu should stop worrying about Iran and pay more attention to his moral compass- if there is any!
Iranian are fed up with the mullahs’ regime and the end of that Islamic Republic is not too far.
