STEPANAKERT (Hayots Ashkhar)–The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee of Karabakh issued an announcement Tuesday–commenting on recent remarks made by Levon Ter-Petrosyan during a press conference.
Below is the translated text of that announcement: Dear Compatriots:
During a press conference on September 26–the belief that the Karabakh question is the cause of the severe socio-economic conditions facing the Armenian people–loudly echoed from Armenia’s political stage. Armenia’s president advocated for the step-by-step resolution as the only viable solution to the Karabakh question.
We find such an approach to the resolution of the conflict unacceptable and find that such a step would make the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic culpable to Azerbaijan.
The ARF Central Committee of Artsakh–in defending the position of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic leadership and people regarding the resolution of the conflict–find a defeatist approach unacceptable–and condemn efforts to maintain Karabakh under Azeri control. The freedom and independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was achieved by the blood of the Armenian people–and it its our duty to strengthen that independence through all available means.
The ARF Central Committee of Artsakh–remains the unwavering supporter of the Karabakh Cause–and calls on you [the people] to see our national liberation struggle–which began with the Karabakh movement in 1988–to a victorious close–and not prioritize social concerns over the ideal of realizing an free and independent nation.
