STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–Karabakh Foreign Minister Naira Melkumian held a news conference in Stepanakert Tuesday regarding Vahram Aghajanian’s recent publication in Azg daily newspaper which–according to the minister–contained insinuations about a meeting with a group of reporters of a number of Armenian and foreign mass media representatives held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Karabakh on June 23.
Melkumian reported that the goal of that meeting had been to clarify Karabakh foreign policy issues. The meeting was not intended for the press.
According to press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Karabakh–the minister told Vahram Aghajanian to leave the hall after the latter began a quarrel with one of the participants. As a result–Aghajanian wrote an article giving false information about the intentions and the point of the meeting. "Moreover–after learning about the intentions of a number of journalists who participated in the meeting to deny his publication in the press–the Azg daily reporter several times phoned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs threatening to continue his campaign discrediting the minister," the Foreign Ministry’s press release stated.
Melkumian told journalists about her intentions to sue Vahram Aghajanian for deliberately spreading false information and blackmail.
