STEPANAKERT (Hayots Askhkhar)–In an interview with Hayots Ashkhar–Karabakh Deputy Prime Minister Jirai Boghossian announced the establishment of the National Lottery.
The National Lottery–a project of the Karabakh government–is aimed at raising needed funds for development in the region–with the participation of the entire Armenian Nation.
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation has agreed to disburse 250,000 lottery tickets of the total 500,000 printed during the first phase of the project.
"The economy of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is in need of revival and redevelopment…It is clear that in order to implement the necessary reforms–the administration will require financial resources. To meet those financial needs–we came up with the idea of a national lottery," explained Boghossian.
According to Boghossian–prizes entered in the lottery include material–as well as capital prizes.
Lottery tickets will be sold at $5–and the drawing is set for May 9–1998–the anniversary of the creation of the Karabakh army–and the liberation of Shoushi.
