ATHENS (Azad Or)–President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic–Arkady Ghoukassian–returned home on Monday–after a short personal visit to Athens–Greece. In Athens–Ghoukassian paid a visit to the Prelacy where he met with Prelate Bishop Sahag Aivazian and members of the government.
At the meeting–issues related to Karabakh were discussed–especially issues pertaining to the educational–cultural and economic realms–along with the role the Diaspora is playing in Karabakh. The relations between Karabakh–Armenia and the Diaspora were commended for uniting Armenia’s throughout the world.
Ghoukassian also met with Greece’s Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee. The two sides had the chance to discuss issues related to the people–government and future of Karabakh. The ARF Central Committee offered suggestions and recommendations for improving the present situation in Karabakh.
The ARF Central Committee promised its full support to Karabakh’s government in the future–and the two sides analyzed the role of the ARF in Karabakh’s fight for liberation and eventual transition into an independent republic. President Ghoukassian later attended a dinner banquet organized by the Central Committee.
The atmosphere at the banquet was warm and positive as the two sides further discussed the situation in Karabakh today–and both sides expressed their sincere wishes to a quick–efficient resolution to the Karabakh problem.
