YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenian Prime Minister–Robert Kocharian–met with a delegation of the German Foreign Ministry led by State Minister Helmut Schefer Tuesday–as the German delegation arrived in Armenia on a fact-finding visit.
According to Schefer–economic programs being implemented in Armenia could arouse the interest of German businessmen–noting that both countries had serious potential for extension of economic cooperation.
The sides also talked about Armenia’s full membership in the Council of Europe–as well as addressing problems of regional importance. They also conferred about the negotiations on the Karabakh conflict–with the Germans saying that as a member of the OSCE Minsk group–they were interested in the continuation of the negotiating process.
Speaking of the "package" and "phased" settlement schemes–the Kocharian noted that he personally had a preference for the former.
Kocharian also stressed that the "phased" settlement scheme was acceptable only on condition of firm guarantees–which were not that easy to ensure.
