YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President Robert Kocharian signed a decree on January 11 confirming Albert Bazeyan’s resignation as Yerevan city mayor.
According to the presidential press office–another decree was signed appointing Robert Nazarian the new Yerevan mayor.
Robert Nazaryan was born in 1956 in Yerevan. He graduated from the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1978 with an engineering degree.
For several years–he worked at the Yerevan construction company as production manager–export manager and head engineer–and was later promoted president of the company.
From 1997 to February 2000–he served as vicar for the energy ministry. He also was the transport and communications minister from February-May 2000. Before this appointment as Yerevan’s new mayor–Nazarian was working for the energy ministry.
