YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The press-service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Karabakh released a statement on Wednesday denying recent press reports about issuing Armenian passports to Karabakh citizens. They said this information appeared as a result of erroneous statemen’s by a number of officials of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh and the following biased commentaries.
It is said in the statement that citizens of Nagorno Karabakh use Soviet passports–which–of course–creates artificial obstacles for the republic’s residents to realize their rights and freedoms in full volume. At the same time–the Ministry says that the Armenia’s of Karabakh–as well as all Diasporan Armenia’s have the right to be issued passports of special status to carry out economic activities in the territory of Armenia according to Armenia’s legislation.
The Ministry hopes that this statement will put an end to all kinds of political speculations which might delay the Karabakh peace process.
